How many lumens are used to illuminate a garden and outdoor spaces?
Perfectly
lighting a garden is essential to give value to a very often overlooked outdoor
space to avoid excessive consumption. But how many lumens do you need to light
up a garden? How to calculate them in order to have the right amount able to
allow a correct brightness in this external space? Here is a guide to calculate
how many lumens per square meter are needed to obtain excellent garden lighting.
External lighting how many lumens
A new frontier of domestic light, including that of the garden, is LED lighting.
Thanks to LED lighting it is, in fact, possible to illuminate this outdoor space
with significant energy savings, which also translates into cost savings as the
cost of bills is also reduced considerably.
To
calculate the number of light sources needed to illuminate an outdoor space,
we must not only take into account the watts but above all the lumens
generated.
It
should be noted in this regard that a good LED product can reach a yield of at
least 60 lumens per Watt and in some cases it can even reach 90-100 lumens, but
for an outdoor space a yield of up to 30 lumens per square meter.
Considering
that the luminous power, or luminous flux, is nothing more than the total
lumens produced by a lamp, to calculate the illumination expressed in lumens
per square meter, it is necessary to divide the luminous flux by the total surface of the environment to be illuminated.
But
how many watts to illuminate externally do they usually need? And how many
lumens for outdoor lighting are needed to have a good brightness? Taking into
consideration what has been said previously, 1500 lumens/watt can be enough
to illuminate the exteriors, for example, a space of 50 square meters.
In
this way the lighting will be quite intense, but in any case, you can also
choose to increase it by choosing a higher lumen power.
How many lumens to illuminate the garden serve?
For
the ' how many lumens garden lighting are needed? And how much lighting is
required for garden lighting? For good garden lighting and to keep consumption
under control, the ideal lumen is between 10 and 20. How many lumens per square
meter in the garden should be considered? And how many lumens for a 50 square
meter garden do you need? And how many watts to light a garden of 50 square
meters?
Considering
that to light a garden of 50 square meters it takes from 500 to 1000 Lumens,
and considering that 1 lumen corresponds to 1 watt, to light a garden well the best choice is to choose lights with intensity from 10 to 20 lumens. So, to
calculate how many lumens are needed, simply multiply the lux, or the desired
lumens per square meter for the number of square meters of the area to be
illuminated.
If
a light of greater intensity is required, choose LED lights with higher lumens
and increase the overall quantity in the area to obtain the desired lighting.
You can also choose to light up some parts of the garden with more lumens /
watts or with lower lumens/watts, depending on what you want to highlight or
not.
How many watts to illuminate tree?
To
illuminate a tree in the garden, just adjust it taking into account the power
of the LED bulb expressed in watts and the height of the tree. On average, 25
to 40 watts are required to illuminate a tree 4 meters high, while 50 to 60 are
required for a 6-meter tree and 75 to 100 for a 10-meter tree.
The
data are in any case indicative and correspond to generally sufficient
standards to ensure the correct lighting of a tree. However, they vary as needed.
